Downloading files

To buy a file, simply add the file to the shopping cart, select a license, and click on the continue button. If there are enough credits in the account you will proceed to the download page. Additional credits may need to be purchased before you can download the file.

Credits are subtracted from the account after clicking on the file download link. The link is available for one 24 hour period starting from the first download.

During this period, you can download the file as many times as needed. When the image is downloaded, there are no refunds due to the reproducible nature of the downloaded file.

Payment to Contributors

Exclusive / non-exclusive

Only a file may be exclusive with Fotolia not the artist.

A contributor may choose to sell files with Fotolia on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis. When a contributor chooses to sell a file exclusively through Fotolia, the minimum commission earned is 50% of the sales price. The contributor may earn additional commission depending on the contributors rank.

When a contributor chooses to sell an image non-exclusively through Fotolia, the minimum commission earned is 33% of the sales price. The contributor may earn additional commission depending on the contributors rank.

The tables below outline the license, resolution, commission, and price range a contributor may sell his images based on the contributors rank and exclusivity.

Licenses & pricing

During the indexation process, a contributor selects an appropriate license and sets the price or base price for that license within the price range of the contributors rank and exclusivity. The selling price for the Standard Royalty Free License is calculated on the resolution of the image. The contributor may set up to 2 prices:

  • Standard Royalty Free Base Price = XS
  • Extended Royalty Free Price = X
Royalty Free Licenses Icons Price Output Resolution Condition
XS Standard Royalty Free Images XS ≥ 0.12 MP Resolution ≥ 3,7

Method of payment

For each file sold, the contributor is paid a commission in credits defined by preceding paragraphs. The contributor can use these credits to purchase photographs or to convert their credits into money. The conversion of credits is done via the use of a free Paypal account [ Learn More ] or a free Money booker account [ Learn More ]

The contributor can convert their credits into money which will then be transferred directly into their Paypal or Money booker account. From their Paypal or Money booker account, the contributor can transfer the money into their bank account.

Fotolia charges No Fee for transactions over 50 credits. Transactions less than 50 credits will be a low fixed price of 1 credit whatever the amount of the conversion. Thus you can transfer money as soon as your account contains at least two eligible credits.

Important! For anti-fraud reasons, conversion of Fotolia credits through Paypal or Moneybooker is not permitted until 45 days after selling your first image.

Affiliation program

The affiliation program enables any member of Fotolia whose profile has been confirmed to be rewarded on the sales and purchases of his affiliates.

An affiliate is anyone who is referred to Fotolia meaning someone who opens an account on Fotolia after the recommendation of a member. Someone is referred to Fotolia by a member if they create an account after clicking on the affiliation link.

An Affiliation link is an Internet hyperlink or web link pointing to the Fotolia website with a member's reference id. The reference id is a unique code assigned to every member of Fotolia.

The affiliate relation between the member and their affiliate takes effect when the new account is created. The affiliation relationship lasts for a limited time. This limited time is displayed under the “my profile” section of your member home page. During this time the referring member will be rewarded by commission on all transactions of their affiliates.

The referring members' revenues are calculated by a percentage of Fotolia's commission on each transaction from the affiliate. (Contributors commissions/royalties do not change as a result of the affiliation program)

The reward percentage depends on the type of affiliate transaction (sale or purchase) and is displayed under the “my profile” section of the member home page.

Affiliation revenues are calculated only from valid transactions 30 days after the original sale. Affiliation rewards are distributed to referring members in credits and may be converted into cash at any time.

Referring members may receive rewards from an unlimited number of affiliates in their account. The referring member can not be his own affiliate.
